URGENSI PENGUATAN KARAKTER MODERASI BERAGAMA PADA GURU MI: STUDI LITERATUR

The escalation of religious intolerance and radicalism in Indonesia has positioned educational institutions, particularly Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), as critical sites for cultivating moderation values. MI teachers serve as frontline agents whose character directly shapes students' religious orientations from an early age, yet their capacity in this domain remains understudied. This study aims to analyze the urgency of strengthening religious moderation character among MI teachers, identify the determinant factors, and formulate evidence-based strategic recommendations. A systematic literature review was employed, synthesizing peer-reviewed journals, policy documents, and academic books published from 2020 to 2024. Thematic analysis was applied to identify conceptual patterns across sources. Findings indicate that MI teachers' moderation character is unevenly developed, constrained by gaps in pre-service education, weak institutional culture, and limited access to in-service training. A multi-level intervention encompassing curriculum reform, professional learning communities, and performance appraisal reform is urgently needed to address these deficiencies and strengthen MI teachers as credible agents of moderate Islamic education in Indonesia.
