KEPEMIMPINAN TRANSFORMASIONAL DALAM LEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN ISLAM: KAJIAN LITERATUR KONTEMPORER

Transformational leadership has emerged as a pivotal construct in educational management studies, particularly within Islamic educational institutions that simultaneously pursue academic excellence and moral character formation. This study seeks to examine the conceptual characteristics of transformational leadership relevant to Islamic educational contexts, analyze its implementation across diverse institutional typologies, and explore the challenges and opportunities of its contemporary application grounded in Islamic values. A systematic library research approach was employed, reviewing peer-reviewed articles, scholarly monographs, and book chapters published between 2019 and 2022, sourced from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The study reveals strong conceptual convergence between transformational leadership dimensions and Islamic leadership principles including qiyadah, shura, amanah, and uswah hasanah demonstrating that their integration fosters institutional innovation, teacher commitment, and sustainable organizational transformation. Critical research gaps remain regarding longitudinal empirical studies within pesantren and madrasah settings in Indonesia.
