Abstract

The post-truth era has fundamentally altered the information landscape, where emotional appeals and personal beliefs often overshadow verified facts in shaping public opinion. This phenomenon poses a serious challenge to the integrity of public communication, particularly within Muslim communities that are increasingly exposed to digital misinformation and disinformation. This study aims to explore and analyze the principles of Islamic communication ethics as a normative framework capable of countering post-truth tendencies in the contemporary information environment. Employing a qualitative approach through library research (studi pustaka), this study systematically examines primary and secondary sources including the Quran, Hadith, classical Islamic scholarship, and contemporary academic literature. The findings reveal that Islamic communicative ethics grounded in the principles of qawlan sadidan (truthful speech), tabayyun (verification), and amanah (trustworthiness) offers a robust and spiritually grounded counter-discourse to post-truth culture. Moreover, the study identifies that digital literacy rooted in Islamic values serves as an effective mechanism for mitigating the spread of hoaxes and propaganda. These principles, when operationalized in contemporary Muslim communication practices, hold transformative potential for rebuilding epistemic trust in the public sphere.
