This study aims to understand: 1.) The essence of education in Malaysia and Indonesia and England; and 2.) Principal's leadership role in Malaysia and Indonesia and the UK. This study uses qualitative research with data collection techniques using literature study techniques with the hope of providing a comprehensive explanation regarding the quality of education in developing countries. The results of this study are 1.) The essence of education in Malaysia and Indonesia; and 2.) Principal's leadership role in Malaysia and Indonesia. The essence of education in Malaysia, Indonesia or England is almost the same, namely to optimize students' abilities in the realm of knowledge, attitudes and skills. Malaysia in embodiment of the essence of education is more focused on optimizing students' skills, in other words, the role of teachers as educators in Malaysia and in England greatly influences the sustainability of education. The role played by school principals in Indonesia in relation to improving school quality is by forming a quality improvement team, making continuous improvements by communicating and passing it on to all members in educational institutions, and creating a comfortable working atmosphere. Meanwhile, the leadership role of school principals in Malaysia is implemented by means of principals being able to realize the school's vision and mission, focusing on managing the teaching and learning process with the aim of increasing school rankings, and being committed to creating positive learning conditions or environments while empowering all school members. with a friendly and open approach
