This study examines the role and efforts of the Indonesian National Police in addressing anarchic demonstrations within the jurisdiction of the Jambi Regional Police. The research is motivated by the increasing occurrence of public protests that sometimes escalate into violence, property destruction, and disturbances of public order. While freedom of expression and assembly are constitutionally guaranteed in Indonesia, anarchic demonstrations pose serious challenges for law enforcement and social stability. This research aims to analyze the role of the police in handling anarchic demonstrations, identify preventive and repressive measures taken by the police, and examine such actions from the perspective of Islamic law. The study employs a juridical–empirical approach with descriptive analytical methods. Data were obtained through library research, analysis of relevant legislation, and field research involving interviews with police officers and participants in demonstrations. The findings show that the police play a crucial role in maintaining public order through crowd control, preventive security measures, legal enforcement, and coordination with related institutions. Preventive efforts include public communication, monitoring potential conflicts, and implementing operational guidelines for mass control. Repressive actions are taken only when demonstrations turn violent and must follow the principles of legality, necessity, and proportionality. From the perspective of Islamic law, expressing opinions is permissible, but acts of violence, destruction, and chaos are strictly prohibited because they contradict the principles of public welfare and social harmony. Therefore, peaceful and responsible demonstrations are encouraged within both legal and ethical frameworks
